How to Build Shield no.3 - Marble Machine Kit

Kit components

  • Wooden parts
  • 10mm screw and spacer
  • Sandpaper

What you need to prepare

  • Knife or scalpel
  • Wood glue
  • Screwdriver

Now, all you need is accuracy and patience. Let’s start.

1. Prepare wooden parts

2. Blueprints

All important elements are numbered. On the pillars and platforms there are two numbers (blue and white), these numbers determine: which parts should be glued to the proper pillars, platforms and slots.

Follow the instructions
Download Blueprints

3. Cutting

Carefully cut the small retaining tabs holding the parts in the panels and use sandpaper to smooth out edges.

4. Ball Track

Carefully cut off the ball track and glue the small disc on the engraved circle.

Wait until glue dries.

5. Small Pillars & Platform #1

Glue the small pillars in the proper slots (blueprints) then glue platform with edges.

6. Platform #2

Glue the platform on the pillars in the right direction, shown on the images.

Wait until glue dries.

7. Pillars & Ball Track

Glue the pillars in the proper slots (blueprints) then mount ball track. Note that the disc (glued on the engraved circle) should be under ball track. If you have any of the mainboards, put the shield on the mainboard and make sure that everything matches with ball feeder.

Wait until glue dries.

8. Ball Track Coupler

Carefully bend down the ball track and mount the coupler.

Caution required.

9. Separator Platform

Glue the edges on the platform then screw the separator and mount all on the pillars. If you have any of the mainboards, put the shield on the mainboard and make sure that everything matches with ball feeder.

Accuracy is very important.

10. Shield no.3
